High pressure moves in on Friday, bringing stable weather across the South Island over the weekend.

Finer details for the mountain

A mostly fine day on the mountain. Chance of some early ‘pockets’ of low cloud and fog before 11am, especially below 1000m, then long sunny periods in the afternoon Calm at all elevations through the day. Light breezes about the summit, tending light easterly about the summit from midday. Cool temperatures early on, with early light frost risk at base level (depending on cloud cover) then rising to around 13-15 degrees by late morning/midday at the start line.

Track conditions

Overall relatively fast track conditions, especially on the mountain. We expect a few soft and muddy sections on the trail section/base of the mountain. We may also see a few drizzle patches today, with 1-2mm possible.
