•Due to significant growth over the last year we’re now on the lookout for 2 highly motivated, talented and passionate weather analysts to join our team on a casual basis. We’re also looking for a social media advisor to join our team during during extreme weather.
TWO CASUAL WEATHER ANALYSTS
You will be overseeing our forecasts & content on request. You will be working on our social media pages & website, updating and generating forecasts & information. Full training will be given to the right applicant. You will be in contact with our analysts when required, ensuring our content is of a high standard & highly accurate. There is the possibility of weekend shifts and extra work during more extreme, demanding periods of weather. Extensive knowledge of weather here in Canterbury is a necessity. This job would suit someone with a meteorological background, or with a similar degree in geography and climate science.

Job requirements – to succeed in this role you’ll need:
•Relevant tertiary qualification (climate science, geography, meteorology ) would be advantageous.
•Excellent grammar and writing skills. Great interpersonal skills. Looking over content, collaborating & updating town pages and specific details will be the main duties.
• Flexible – you’ll be working alongside our analysts to ensure content is accurate and up to date at various stages. The ability to be flexible and fit in with your weekend plans and work will be required. You’ll need to be a team player.
•Experience in Word Press is an advantage, but not necessary. Full training provided.
•Experience in media and technology would be an advantage. You’ll have the opportunity to be on radio and various media platforms.

•Hours of work are dependent on the weather. You must be flexible.
•Skill sets and experiences associated with weather desirable; ski industry, farming, rural background. Extensive experience and knowledge of weather in Canterbury is highly desirable and a point of difference with our competitors.

CASUAL ONLINE ADVISOR – SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEB CONTENT
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the Canterbury Weather Updates team and present and work on one of New Zealand’s busiest online forums. You will be working primarily during extreme weather and preparing content on our social media feeds and website for the Canterbury public.
This is a great opportunity to utilise and grow your communication and social media skills.
You will play a critical role in updating the Canterbury public on all weather events, especially during weather of significance.

Job requirements – to succeed in this role you’ll need:
•Strong social media understanding and knowledge.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office applications – word.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•The ability to build relationships, both internally and externally is essential.
•Experience in digital and social media management software.
•Excellent time management, while also having the ability to work and problem solve in high pressure situations.
•A relevant tertiary qualification (eg. Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or marketing) would be advantageous
•Willingness to work in the evenings and early mornings occasionally. You must be flexible.
•You must have a deep and comprehensive understanding the Canterbury region – the geography, the weather and business aspects would be an advantage.
