🏂YOUR WEEKEND SKI FORECAST CANTERBURY - brought to you by Snowride Sports nz.

❄️ Our last weekend ski forecast for 2024. All ski fields close this Saturday, or Sunday, bar Mt Hutt and Mt Olympus, which provides one more week to hit the slopes.

⛷️Thank you to Snowride Sports nz for supporting our ski reports in 2024.

✅️Mt Hutt – A fine weekend, with just high cloud at times. A little more nor-west wind potential on Sunday, but overall it’s looking great, with spring snow conditions (closing day on the 13th October).

✅️ Broken River – A fine Saturday, with high cloud. Spring snow conditions. Last day tomorrow, Saturday, 5th of October.

✅️Mt Olympus – A fine Saturday & Sunday, with high cloud at times. A bit more norwest potential on Sunday. Spring snow conditions. Last day - 12th of October.

✅️Lake Ōhau Lodge & Ōhau Snow Fields – it’s snowing on the mountain right now. Great spring snow coverage, with freshies to be had over the weekend. The mountain is likely to be open both days over the weekend, with high cloud both days. Potentially a little more nor-west on Sunday. (Last day, Sunday - 6th of October)

❄️SNOW OUTLOOK

🌤Most of next week is looking fairly settled in the east, with weaker nor-westerly flows and ridges of high pressure.

❄️On Wednesday a cold southerly may bring snow to around 600-700m for a time, with 5-10cm possible for Mt Hutt.

☀️So if you’re thinking of a few more turns next week, Thursday or Friday could be the best days at Mt Hutt. Next weekend currently look stable under high pressure.

Good morning. Its a cloudy and wet start for most of Canterbury, with more widespread showers and rain in South Canterbury.

🌧Our low lingers today, bringing cloudy skies for most of South and Mid Canterbury, with more persistent rain about southern areas during the morning.

🌧For areas north of the Rakaia River, isolated areas of morning drizzle or showers clear away in the afternoon, but it will remain mostly cloudy.
