SOUTHERLY FLOW ON SATURDAY – cloud more widespread north of the Rakaia River.

Good evening. It’s been a mostly fine day across the region, with fresh southerlies about the plains and strong about many coastal areas north of the Rakaia River.  Timaru grabbed top spot, with just 16.3 degrees; the full list of the daily ‘highs’ below.

Cloud gradually becoming widespread this evening, with isolated areas of drizzle developing tonight/overnight. Southerlies ease back through the evening. Check into your town pages for specific and moderated details – there will be contrast across the region.

Saturday our cooler southerly flow lingers, bringing mostly cloudy skies north of the Rakaia River, with isolated light showers and areas of drizzle (generally more widespread north of Oxford about the foothills). We will see brighter periods about South Canterbury and the Mackenzie Country west of Burkes Pass, with parts of the Mackenzie Country challenging 20 degrees.

High pressure brings mostly fine weather on Sunday and Monday, bar areas of morning cloud.

We start to see an increase in rainfall chances later next week, with southerlies.

High pressure moves in on Saturday bringing cooler, but stable weather across the region on Sunday and Monday.

Areas of cloud at times and sunny spells south of the Rakaia River. Often cloudy further north, with areas of drizzle or light showers; mostly about the foothills north of Oxford. Light south-easterly breezes.  Milder about the Mackenzie Country west of Burkes Pass. H: 15-18 L: 3-6.
