WE’RE IN FOR A TREAT – AUSSIE WARMTH HEADING OUR WAY.

We start November with some of the finest weather on offer. High pressure will do dominate our weekend bringing sunny and settled conditions across the entire region.

What makes this weekend a little unique and rare is the warmth for early November. A large high pressure in the Tasman will direct some very warm air from Australia, with origins form the sub tropics and then a drying process over central Australia.

The combination of little or no high cloud and very light winds will have many towns and villages nudging 30 degrees 2 days straight.

A number of inland areas in the Mackenzie Country may peak on Saturday, hovering around 29-31 degrees and by Sunday a slight foehn affect will have our more eastern parts of Canterbury nudging 30-32 degrees; we may even see a few spots record 33=34 degrees!

Quite staggering given our warmer more traditional months of heat occur between mid-January and mid-February.

QUICK FIRE SUMMARY.

•Dry and warm all weekend across the entire region. A great weekend to enjoy the high country.

•Warmer about Coastal Canterbury on Sunday; perhaps slightly warmer about the Mackenzie Country on Saturday.

•Many towns and areas will nudge 30 degrees 2 days straight.

•Freezing Levels? 3500-3800m on Saturday and around 3900-4200m on Sunday.

•Our warm weather will continue into Monday with sunny skies and temperature sin the mid to high twenties.

•Our hot spots? Saturday – possibly Hanmer Springs and Twizel; Sunday heat will be more widespread, possibly Hawarden, Cheviot, Waiau, Hanmer Springs & Culverden and perhaps even the Garden City will be fighting for top honours.
