SHOW WEEKEND PLANS? – A LITTLE DICEY AT THIS STAGE.

The questions are coming in – how’s it looking for Canterbury’s biggest weekend? A sneak look ahead to the long weekend.
Updated 10:56am 12/11/2018 Monday morning. There are now slight changes in ‘timings’ and rainfall totals for the weekend – source our town pages for specific details & news feed.
At this stage the long weekend is looking a little unsettled, with a couple of cooler southerly fronts in the mix.
Early & middle stages of next week will be dominated largely by high pressure – relatively settled conditions, sunny skies, light winds & pleasant temperatures in the early to mid twenties for Coastal Canterbury & the Canterbury Plains. Our one exception will be inland areas about the Canterbury Foothills & High Country from mid afternoon Monday; where this is the chance of heavy showers, possible hail & thunder. More details on our live feed and our thunderstorm watch issued earlier today.
We do start to see changes late Thursday, with a trough approaching the south of the South Island, this will gradually move north Friday morning and bring widespread showers and rain across most of Canterbury on Friday. It will be cooler during the afternoon, with temperatures set to peak around 12-14 degrees.
On Saturday we’ll see an improvement, with more sun, lighter winds and pleasant temperatures. At this stage the pick for our long weekend.
On Sunday another cooler southerly front looks set to track north bringing another period of scattered showers and perhaps a brief period of steadier rain.
Please note.
Remember we’re still a number of days out and can expect slight changes – source our town pages of the most specific, detailed content available. All the latest will be provided on our ‘Live Weather Feed’ – located on all town pages and our homepage for easy access.
