SATURDAY/EVENT FORECAST

Kumara morning forecast

Mostly fine. Cloudy periods, with fine spells. Low risk of a shower (15-20% risk). Light SE winds (5-15km/hr.)

Goats Pass

Become cloudy through the morning; fine breaks early on, with scattered rain developing around 2pm-3pm about the summit. Light easterlies (5-15km/hr) tending SE from (10-15km/hr) from afternoon. Around 12-14 degrees. Freezing Level: 2800m-3000m.

Interior

Dry until midday-1pm, then rain gradually ‘creeping’ in through the basins and Interior; steadier falls from 2-3pm. Light south-easterlies. Cooling down gradually.

Canterbury Plains

Cloudy, with scattered rain developing around midday (around the Waimak) Chance of some steadier falls about the foothills from 2-3pm – moderate risk. Light east/south-easterlies, tending fresh southerly by 3-4pm (15-25km/hr.) Cooling down from 2-3pm.

Christchurch

Cloudy, with scattered rain and showers from late morning; steadier and heavier from 4-5pm. Light east/south-easterlies for most part, tending fresh southerly from 3-4pm (15-20km/hr). Cool conditions by evening.

•Please note conditions deteriorate later tonigh (Saturday) with heavy falls setting in across the region and lowering snow levels, with accumulations to around 1000m on Sunday morning.
