🌧☁️We have a wee moisture feed across Christchurch and close surrounds currently, with areas of drizzle and misty light rain.

☁️This will weaken early afternoon, with mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon and evening, with occasional fine breaks.

❄️Also, were watching the Lindis Pass, with snow set to develop around midday. Falls may cause restrictions or closures by late afternoon/evening. Further south, we expect more widespread snow in parts of Central Otago.

🌫🌫Take care on our roads this morning, with areas of thick fog about the coast and plains.

❄️Lindis Pass today - a Canterbury Weather Updates road snowfall warning is in place, with heavier falls developing late morning. Check in NZ Transport Agency for road information, with closures and restrictions possible this afternoon. The heavier and lower snow today will fall in parts of Central Otago.

💨Our cold blast remains on course for Tuesday and we have a heavy snow watch for areas above 400m, between Oxford and Kaikoura, with light accumulations to near sea level in the Hurunui District.

💨🧊TUESDAY IS GOING TO BE BITTER - a few stand outs.

🧊At midday, Christchurch City will be hovering on 3-4 degrees; with the associated wind chill factor, it will feel more like -6, -7 degrees. About the tops of the Port Hills, with sleety and snow flurries and 45km/hr+ southerlies? Try -10

❄️Some of the heavier snow will affect North Canterbury, with a focus on the Hurunui District - Hanmer Springs.

🌨Sleety falls are likely at sea level at times, with possible snow flurries; higher chance between Rangiora and Kaikoura.

⚠️Further snow warnings may be issued for Tuesday tomorrow.
